Audra is a unique artist in terms of the range and diversity of her talents as a performer and song writer. Audra McDonald who has won the prestigious six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was named as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. The president Barack Obama also awarded her the National Medal of Arts -- America's highest honour for achievements in this field. A luminous singer with an extraordinary gift for emotional truth-telling, Ms. O'Connor can be found on Broadway in addition to the stage for opera as well as on television. In addition to the stage roles, McDonald has earned a name for herself in a professional career that is a major recording and concert career. She performs regularly at top venues. McDonald was born in Fresno California to a music family, began her training in classical singing at the New York's Juilliard School. One year after graduation McDonald was awarded an award for the Tony Award Best Performance for the Lead Actress of a Musical for her performance in Carousel at Lincoln Center Theater. Over the next four years, she won two more Tony Awards for the category of a featured actress. The show she was in the Broadway premieres Terrence McNally's musical Ragtime as well as Terrence McNally's show Master Class in 1996. This was an incredible number of Tony Awards by the time she turned thirty. She received her 4th Tony for her role as a lead in A Raisin in the Sun with Sean Diddy Combs. Then in 2013, she took her fifth Tony in addition to her first award in the Leading actress category. Her next role was that of a character actor on NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit where she was a part of the cast with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber. McDonald's Emmy-nominated performance as Emma Thompson in Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was directed by Mike Nichols. McDonald's return to television networks was in 2003, when she starred with Josh Brolin in Mister Sterling. In early 2006 she joined the crew of WB's The Bedford Diaries and over the course of the season, she was the role of a regular on NBC's television series Kidnapped. McDonald received an 4th Emmy award for her role in HBO's special film of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill in the year 2016. The Bite is a drama featuring six episodes that are based on a pandemic, coproduced through Spectrum Originals & CBS Studios. McDonald starred with Taylor Schilling & Steven Pasquale. The actress first appeared in the role of U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in 2009 on CBS's medical drama The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald reprised her role (now known as Liz Reddick) as a season regular of The Good Fight on Paramount+ receiving the three Critics Choice Award nominations for her role. The actress is a featured guest on HBO's The Gilded Age by Julian Fellowes.
